Kim Flintoff is an award-winning leader in education innovation and transformation. With a career spanning over three decades, he has positioned himself as a driving force in rethinking education systems to meet the demands of a rapidly changing world. Kim is a leading voice in futures-oriented education, currently at the IDEA Academy. His work focuses on reimagining how education systems can evolve to meet the challenges of a rapidly changing world. Kim has spearheaded numerous projects, including STEM4Innovation, aimed at equipping students with future-ready skills through real-world problem-solving. His contributions have earned him several prestigious recognitions, including the Entrepreneurial Educator of the Year and being named to The Educator Hot List in 2019 and 2022. Kim’s passion for leveraging technology in education is further demonstrated through his leadership in international projects like the UNEP-DHI Eco Challenge, which engaged young people globally in solving sustainability issues through immersive, curriculum-aligned digital games. Holding advanced degrees in education and theatre, Kim’s diverse expertise spans educational transformation, drama education, and game-based learning. His research and creative work have contributed to global discussions on how digital technologies can reshape the way we learn and engage. Kim Flintoff continues to inspire educators and institutions worldwide, fostering a future-focused approach to learning that is adaptable, inclusive, and grounded in real-world application. Kim’s expertise lies in creating adaptable, community-linked educational models that prepare learners for the future. As well as establishing and coordinating the Learning Futures Network, Innovative Schools Consortium and shared development of STEM4Innovation, Kim is also a founding member of the ShapingEDU community and continues as Lifelong Change Maker, advisory board member to Consortium of Schools Networking Driving K-12 Innovation initiative, FutureWe, NetEDU, OneHE and other projects around the world. Kim’s ongoing research interest is considering the impact of educational collaborative networks on school innovation and transformation. He is also an Innovator, Ambassador, and Community Lead (Australia) with hundrED.org, and a former Pactful Ambassador, and a graduate of the Climate Reality Leadership Corps 2014 training with Mr Al Gore. Since 2020 Kim has been recognised with several nominations and awards including: Entrepreneurial Educator of the Year (2022), inclusion on the Educator Hot List 2022, Commendation from UNESCO Wenhui Secretariat for Educational Innovation, (Top 50) Most Influential Educators 2022, Secondary School Teacher of the Year (Excellence Awardee) 2022, Finalist - UNAA(WA) World Teacher Award 2021, Nominee National Excellence in Teaching Award 2021. Kim was also selected as a Judge for the WA Governors School STEM Awards 2021 and contributed to the refinement and enhancement of the award structure.
